Due to recent internal expansion, launch of new products and business growth our client (a highly ethical sub-prime lender) was in need of additional resources within the 2nd Line Compliance department. Supporting the Head of Compliance Monitoring, 4 individuals were required with specialist monitoring skills of various experience levels.
The company had attempted to recruit this team via a number of traditional advertising methods.
However, the roles had not been filled. Several challenges in this niche area needed to be overcome:
Identification of the correct level of skills and experience required to successfully build a team
Sourcing of compliance professionals in the Yorkshire Financial Services market with the required level of technical skill
Selling softer benefits of the company as budget constraints were apparent
Overcoming the preconception regarding the sector and the business
After an initial consultation with Spencer Edwards, the company agreed that in order to effectively recruit this team with the high-quality personnel they needed for such a crucial department, a much more direct approach was needed to complement their existing mainstream sourcing methods.
As specialists in the Yorkshire Compliance market, Spencer Edwards were tasked on an exclusive basis to retain full control of this project. It was decided that to ensure the most elite candidates were made aware of these opportunities, a proactive networking and head hunt approach would be taken. The priority was to find a strong Team Leader to support the Head of Compliance Monitoring, followed by 3 officers.
Overall budgets, balancing skills and personalities were key considerations throughout this brief.
